Pulled By Purpose

We can either be pushed down a path or we can be beckoned by a purpose and a vision every day. It is American culture that we believe in ourselves and in our ability to make our ideas and dreams a reality. We believe that we can be the change in the world that propels greatness. How are you pulled by your purpose?

Pushed or Pulled?

In my experience, we entrepreneurs/visionaries, we always have more that we want to do. We are never finished dreaming up ideas and goals that we want to see come to fruition. There is the idea that we can set endless systems in place to help us achieve these goals or we can wake up every morning with a purpose that is calling us. The latter, being pulled by your purpose is more focused on living in the purpose of the day, while being pushed down a path focuses on the end goal. I believe that we can do both simultaneously.

A Gas Tank

I believe when you are being pushed down a path, you are being pushed by external goals such as making a certain amount of money, buying a home, etc. In my opinion, it is like a gas tank that you will constantly need to fill up. The to-do list is always there. Yes, you will cross tasks off, but you are also always adding tasks to the list. Based on what I have seen in myself and others, being pushed down a path without being pulled by a purpose doesn't last long and isn't effective. I feel that it is dying before it even starts.

An Endless Spring

I view being pulled by a purpose as an endless spring of inspiration. It is constantly flowing and feeding us. I strongly believe that our vision is uniquely ours and comes from within us. It is our purpose. In my opinion, I also believe that being pulled by our visions is so compelling that it has the power to overcome obstacles that being pushed by external forces aren't capable of. Just the fact that you are creating ideas, in my opinion, means that you are already ahead of the game!

Finding My Purpose

When I think about finding my purpose, for me, it has a lot do with sitting down, being still, and asking myself the following questions:

  • What makes me tick?

  • What feeds me?

  • What throws me?

  • What inspires me?

  • What is the underlying mission of all of my goals?

Underlying Mission

In my experience, the underlying mission of all of my goals is the same. Every job I've had, every non-profit I've worked at and every client ties back to my overall mission. For me, I am here to help entrepreneurs and visionaries break free from external implications that never applied to us in the first place. I want to help others see the power, beauty, grace, and freedom of not living by someone else's standards. I believe that I am here to see the diamond in the rough in every single human being and help them shine their light. We all have greatness inside of us!

What Do You Want?

For such a simple question is a very tough one to answer. What inspires you and gets you excited? Which visions are so powerful that they beckon you with a force so compelling, that you are pulled by your purpose to act on it?
